But what are the odds of a lightning strike?

There is over 25,000 lightning strikes that hit the ground in the Sydney Metro are every year! And each strike can send a voltage spike easily across 5km of power lines. So yet it’s pretty common problem!

On top of the “Normal” voltage problems in out electricity network are almost a daily occurence. Things like brownouts, blackouts, temporary voltage drops and local ‘dirty’ power will, over time, damage your electronics. These things all contribute to gradually weaken electronic components. Then one of these things will be the straw that breaks the camel’s back.
